Resources to Help Pay Veterinary Bills
The Waverly Humane Society cannot provide funds to help owners who can't afford to pay their veterinary bills.
One way to ensure that you won't be caught without the funds to pay for your pet's health care is to purchase a pet health insurance policy. There are a number of companies which offer these policies for individual pets and for homes with multiple pets. You'll need to find a company that insures "exotics" if you keep rabbits such as VPI Pet Insurance.
Ask your veterinarian to submit an assistance request to the American Animal Hospital Association's (AAHA) "Helping Pets Fund." In order to qualify, your animal hospital must be AAHA accredited. To learn more about the program visit the AAHA website. To find an AAHA accredited hospital in your area, search online at Pets911.com.
Check with veterinary schools in your state to see if they offer discount services to the public. You can find a list of veterinary schools in the Education section of the American Veterinary Medical Association's website.
Care Credit is another option. It allows clients to finance veterinary (and other medical) care at offices which are members; this plan allows the client to charge their bill and make payments to Care Credit. If the bill is paid in full by a pre-determined time, there is no interest charged. This can be incredibly helpful and more and more vets are signing up for the program.
Following is a list of organizations which maybe able to help owners with veterinarian bills. The Waverly Humane Society cannot vouch for these organizations, nor can we guarantee that they will help you. The content of these sites are maintained by those organizations offering information on their sites. You need to contact them if there are discrepancies on their websites.
